Join us as the plays selected for production in our 2017/2018 season kick off their development cycles with a First Look! These free, script-in-hand readings give each playwright the opportunity to hear their text aloud and with an audience, often for the very first time.

Our audience is a crucial collaborator in this part of our development process, and we hope you'll stick around for a conversation following the reading -- your responses help determine how the play grows. Come get a peek at our season at the very beginning and participate in the Fresh Ink process!

In an effort to avoid confronting her declining mental health, recent college graduate Lucilia volunteers a month of free labor to an organic farm in rural Georgia. There, she encounters ignorance bordering on racism, religious fanaticism, and too healthy eating habits that force her to question whether escaping into a world of green living was really an escape at all.

Bridgette Echo didn't grow up in a typical American family. Her father sells soap sculptures, her mother is a yoga guru, her younger sister plays with tarot cards, and they all live together under one roof in a continuously mobile RV. When the family decides to put down temporary roots in a Texas trailer park, this whimsical family soon discovers there's a lot under the hood that they've been suppressing. A quirky, endearing tale about a collection of dreamers who are all asking the same question, "What is my true purpose?"
