Join us as the plays selected for production in our 2018/2019 season kick off their development cycles with a First Look! These free, script-in-hand readings give each playwright the opportunity to hear their text aloud and with an audience, often for the very first time.

Our audience is a crucial collaborator in this part of our development process, and we hope you'll stick around for a conversation following the reading -- your responses help determine how the play grows. Come get a peek at our season at the very beginning and participate in the Fresh Ink process!

On a Mars colony built to sustain the future of humanity, homesick immigrants look to reconnect with the Earth in any way they can: virtual reality, coffee drinking, even sing-a-longs. But a new generation of young Martians want to leave the past behind and carve out a culture for themselves, even if it means they have to fight for it. In The Earth Room, the snow is artificial, but the complications of family life have never been more real.

Windy loves painting her nails, goofing off with her BFF, and every one of her American Girl dolls — even though loving AG is totally embarrassing when you're fifteen. But when her obsession brings Instagram celebrity and the digital attention of a cute older guy, things get complicated IRL. Adolescence meets online culture in this story about figuring out what it means to grow up.
